Cedars of God

The Cedars of God—Arabic Arz al-Rabb—is one of the last surviving stands of Lebanon cedar (Cedrus libani), revered for millennia and celebrated in scripture and legend. The grove crowns the western flanks of Mount Makmel above Bsharri and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Ouadi Qadisha (the Holy Valley) and the Forest of the Cedars of God.” Visitors follow a gentle loop through monumental trees and conservation enclosures, with views toward the Qadisha’s cliff monasteries. It’s a quiet, contemplative walk that connects natural heritage with the region’s monastic history.
